Who or what is PCI and why should I care? The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI) was formed in 2004 by the giants of the credit card business. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB grouped together in an attempt to control credit card data loss. The council did establish a standard for security of cardholder data and released it as the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
There are other credit card companies that are not a part of the council or that choose to interpret the code in their own way. The Council has no legal authority but if you accept credit cards, you will be held to the standard. There is the possibility of being fined for standards violation and the much more troublesome threat of being permanently banned from taking credit card payment in your business.
Our scans ensures you are PCI compliant and exceeds the quarterly site scan required by the standard. We also offer you the flexibility to schedule compliance scans based on your needs.
